US. OTG Management will unveil what it hails as “a revolutionary new dining programme” which will be the first to integrate iPad technology for menu ordering at New York’s John F. Kennedy (JFK) and LaGuardia (LGA) airports for partner Delta Air Lines.
Beginning on 19 November at Delta’s JFK terminal with La Guardia soon to follow, the programme will provide passengers with “a restaurant quality experience” at the gate areas.
The new-look gate areas will have several distinct components. Travellers will have access to full-serve restaurants, bars, cafes and gourmet markets, plus there will be single, double and multiple party seating with most seats equipped with power outlets for easy plug-in.
Additionally OTG is installing over 200 Apple iPads, with a custom application that allows guests to order meals that will be delivered to their seat by an OTG server (other applications allow guests to check flights, read articles, play games, and much more). The inviting design, lighting and music created by New York-based design firm ICRAVE and custom music provider EL Media Group, adds to the gate’s modern aesthetic, OTG said.

To boost this concept, OTG has selected some of New York’s most popular chefs and connoisseurs to deliver innovative culinary creations complemented by cocktails, wine, and beer.
JFK Terminal 2 Gates 21 and 22 will feature food by Chef Andrew Carmellini, who developed the menu for the new restaurant Croque Madame, while T3 Gate 15 is home to Bar Brace by Chef Jason Denton. At LGA, Terminal D Gates 1 and 2 feature Crust, a restaurant offering thin-crusted, Neapolitan-style pizzas with artisanal toppings and bottled beer by Chef Jim Lahey.
Each gate will also offer a speciality gourmet market complete with a wide selection of pre-packaged items for purchase. Coffee specialist WorldBean, for example, offers seasonal blends from select micro-roasters as well as a full selection of fresh teas.
“We are excited to announce and unveil the new enhancements OTG has made at JFK and LGA,” said OTG CEO Rick Blatstein. “We are giving travellers a one-of-a-kind experience by bringing great food and beverages from world-renowned chefs to the gate area. By combining cuisine with innovative seating and ordering technology, we are offering a truly unique airport travel experience.”
Delta Senior Vice President – New York Gail Grimmett added: “As part of our aggressive plan to invest and improve our facilities at JFK and LGA, Delta is fully committed to enhancing the experience for our New York customers with amenities that include not only superior food and beverage choices, but also services that make the airport experience seamless and efficient.
“This unique programme developed by OTG helps reinforce our effort to become New York’s preferred airline, offering our passengers the best customer experience available in airport dining.”

JFK and LGA highlights include:
• Bar Brace: Bar Brace offers Italian road food such as homemade panini and bruschetta, featuring bold flavours from both classic Italian ingredients and more inventive combinations. Jason Denton, New York restaurateur (Lupa and “˜inoteca) and author of Simple Italian Sandwiches, composed the menu based on his extensive travels through Italy.
• Croque Madame: A French-inspired concept serving tartines, salads, small plates and sandwiches. Andrew Carmellini, New York restaurateur (Locanda Verde), Michelin Star winner and author of Urban Italian: True Stories and Simple recipes from a Life in Food composed the menu based on his time in France.
• Crust: Featuring thin-crusted, Neapolitan-style pizzas with artisanal toppings, the individually sized pies are baked at nearly 800 degrees for “the perfect crunch”. Crust’s menu was developed by New York baker Jim Lahey (Co and Sullivan St Bakery). Lahey’s renowned bread is the basis of his recent book, aptly titled My Bread.
• WorldBean: OTG has created “an authentic coffee experience” with WorldBean, offering seasonal blends from select micro-roasters that feature only fair trade beans grown in season. At WorldBean, customers with little time may select from a variety of self-service brewed coffees, both regular and decaffeinated. They can also personalise their coffee by selecting a bean variety for a pour-over. In addition to coffee beverages, WorldBean offers an expansive selection of espresso beverages that will be prepared to order using state-of-the-art Slayer machines.
