CANADA. Ottawa International Airport Authority has released further details of its plans – and its 2013 commercial performance – as it seeks expressions of interest (EOI) from concessionaires for retail and food & beverage space (which we initially reported on Wednesday).
The airport is seeking participation from potential partners for up to eight locations within the passenger terminal building at Ottawa International Airport.
In a statement today, it said: “The locations are a mix of pre- and post-security, and include both existing and new outlets. The Authority is looking for a variety of uses and welcomes local, regional and national/international brands.”
Ottawa International Airport handles around 4.6 million passengers a year. Combined passenger spending on food, retail and duty free in calendar year 2013 was approximately C$23 million (US$20.7 million), or C$10 (US$9) per enplaned passenger.
The authority added: “Qualified respondents (i.e. those having previous retail experience) will be eligible to respond to any Request(s) for Proposals (RFP) that may arise out of this process. Detailed submissions with financial projections and store designs etc. are not required for this process; the Authority is seeking only a general overview of the respondent’s experience and vision for the location(s) in question.”
Respondents should consult www.merx.com under the Agencies, Crown and Private Corporations section and search for Reference Number PR289522, or conduct an Advanced Search under the category “Leasing or Rental of Facilities”.
EOI submissions are due by 21 March.
