FINLAND. Airport operator Finavia has completed the €13.5 million “state-of-the-art” renewal of Ivalo Airport – the largest-ever investment in any Finavia network facility.
Finavia said that the expansion and renewal had elevated the passenger experience at Ivalo Airport.
Finavia Director Joni Sundelin commented: “By making Lapland airports more effective and smooth, we have also invested extensively in Lapland tourism, and in that way, we are promoting the operating pre-conditions of the region’s tourism operators.”
The design of the renovated terminal pays particular attention to passenger waiting rooms and restaurant services.
The gate area shop offers local food products, such as berry products, fish and meat. The pre-security check area features a new café that offers souvenirs and local handicrafts.

The terminal expansion wing, introduced in May, has fully renovated check-in facilities, security check and baggage handling facilities.
Finavia said its main focus in 2015 has been on the development of airports in Lapland. The terminal at Rovaniemi was renovated, resulting in a new level of functionality, appearance and comfort. At the recently renovated Kittilä Airport, a renovation of air traffic areas was completed in August.
