The Oxygen Exchange watch is available in a gift box |
A new gift set has been developed for Oxygen watches in a bid to broaden the brand’s distribution from purely airlines to ground stores and cruise lines.
The French company has created a new pack containing an Oxygen Exchange watch model and two spare, interchangeable NATO-style straps made from quick-drying nylon webbing.
The watch case is water-resistant to 10ATM, and the straps are available in either plain or stripy versions. Four different watch cases are offered: 34mm and 38mm in diameter for women and children, and sports and diving models measuring 40mm and 44mm for men.
“We developed this pack to target the ground stores,” explained Eric d’Hauteville, Managing Director of Citime France, which makes Oxygen watches. “Oxygen started the inflight business nine years ago, but we never [targeted] ground stores or cruise lines.”
The new presentation, packaged in a gift box, has already gained listings on Air France, from July 2010, and Japan Airlines.
D’Hauteville said he gained inspiration for the watch while travelling in Italy, where fashion designers visiting the Pitti Uomo menswear trade show were sporting vintage Omegas, Rolexes and IWCs paired with NATO-style straps. A year later, d’Hauteville found these watches on sale in French antique shops.
“I said: “˜Let’s do this more affordably’, so we developed this great value gift,” he told The Moodie Report at the TFWA World Exhibition in September, where the company displayed its product range.
The stainless steel Exchange watch gift set retails at €99, and a version with rotating bezel is €149.
The Exchange watch model is also available with leather straps.
In other product news, Oxygen has launched a range of watches in vibrant colours such as turquoise and violet, in line with current fashion trends.
All Oxygen watches feature Japanese movements and luminous indexes.
Airlines that carry the brand include All Nippon Airways, Korean Air and Philippine Airlines.
