Pallini Limoncello and Heinemann subsidiary Travel Retail Italiana launch Bologna Airport activation

ITALY. Heinemann Duty Free and Pallini Limoncello have partnered for an artistic and authentically Italian activation at Bologna Airport.

The activation features tastings, brand experiences and competitions. Pallini said it was the first campaign of its kind that it had developed exclusively with Heinemann subsidiary Travel Retail Italiana.

Love and lemons: The activation launched yesterday (1 August) and runs until 15 September

In a celebration of creation and craftsmanship, two Italian artists will paint the ceramic bottles of a Heinemann- exclusive ‘Amalfi Coast Limited Edition Limoncello’. The bottles will feature Bologna-inspired details and can be won at a sweepstake that will take place after the activation ends.

The partners said the activation at the Heinemann Duty Free & Travel Value Shop was timed to coincide with the summer high season. It launched yesterday (1 August) and runs until 15 September.

The hand-crafted ‘Amalfi Coast Limited Edition Limoncello’ ceramic bottles will be painted by two artists throughout the promotion on the shop floor exclusively for Heinemann

Pre-security displays placed on a Pallini-branded Ape car highlight the activation before passengers reach the duty free store. Limoncello tastings are also available in various locations at the airport, both landside and airside.

Heinemann and Pallini are encouraging travellers to share their Limoncello experience on social media to win an exclusive weekend trip to the Amalfi Coast.

“Our company is thrilled about this activation in Bologna and about partnering with Heinemann Duty Free in Italy for such an extensive promotion,” said Pallini CEO Micaela Pallini.

“Heinemann is one of our strongest travel retail partners globally and when they offered us the possibility to create such a unique promotion within their outlets in Italy, we were very pleased to build this activity together. Our company has a strong focus and commitment to the travel retail segment.”

Travel Retail Italiana Managing Director Karl Niendorf commented: “Partnering with Pallini in creating this magnificent promotion was a pure pleasure. Our common goal is to be on the forefront of innovation and creating memorable moments for air passengers in travel retail. The prospect of winning a very special trip or a super limited edition bottle is particular and unique and will help to entice even more passengers into our stores.”

Bologna Airport Business Non-Aviation Director Stefano Gardini added: “We are delighted to host such an exclusive event and product. Limoncello is among the most iconic Italian products but what we see today is something unexpected that undoubtedly will contribute to a unique passenger experience, which is part of our DNA.”
