Paradies Lagardère introduces two new Sense of Place concepts at San Francisco International

USA. Paradies Lagardère has opened a pair of Sense of Place concepts at San Francisco International Airport in the new US$2.4 billion Harvey Milk Terminal 1. The travel retailer and restaurateur has unveiled Bourbon Pub and Mills Cargo, a travel essentials store.

Bourbon Pub, which has an established location in the city of Santa Clara in the San Francisco Bay area, has been opened near Gate B7/B8 in partnership with chef Michael Mina. He owns the Mina Group, which manages more than 40 bars and restaurants across the USA.

Window to the world: Facilities at Bourbon Pub include multiple screens for viewing San Francisco’s major sports teams

Paradies Lagardère describes Bourbon Pub as “a witty, irreverent and rebellious approach to the classic American food & beverage experience”.

Snacks include chicken wings or tenders with a choice of Buffalo or green sauce, and The Nachos, loaded with a sunny-side-up egg, beef chili, American cheese and avocado. There are also healthier options including The Wedge salad with reyes blue cheese, tomato, egg, bacon, red onion and ranch dressing.

Wise words: An old American proverb greets travellers at the entrance to Bourbon Pub

Sandwiches and burgers such as the Heritage Turkey BLTA (with bacon, tomato and avocado), and the Bourbon Burger, featuring caramelised onions, mushrooms, bacon and smoked gouda, are also available.

Mills Cargo is now trading near Gate B3. On sale alongside drinks and snacks are products from local brands such as The Good Chocolate, Cuppa Fog and Rickshaw Bags.

Local beat: Paradies Lagardère says Mills Cargo is designed to capture the atmosphere of a “friendly neighbourhood” store

There is also a wide range of sports merchandise from college and professional sports teams on offer such as Stanford University, the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants.

Main event: A ribbon-cutting ceremony at the official opening of Mills Cargo near Gate B3

Paradies Lagardère President and CEO Gregg Paradies said: “Chef Michael Mina has a global following; fans of his restaurants, and those unfamiliar with his concepts, will love the delicious menu and relaxed atmosphere of Bourbon Pub. And we’re excited to know that Mills Cargo has resonated with travellers, with its selection of local and regional goods and travel essentials in a space that speaks to the history of the airport.”
