Parlux prepares to introduce debut fragrance from Rihanna

From singing to scent: chart-topper Rihanna’s debut fragrance, Reb’l Fleur, will be launched in February

US. Parlux Fragrances is preparing to launch the first feminine scent from singer Rihanna. The fragrance, called Reb’l Fleur, will be on-counter in the US from February, before rolling out internationally. It will be supported by an innovative marketing programme that emphasises social media.

Chart-topper Rihanna is as well known for her flamboyant, fashion-forward style as for her music. “I believe a woman should dare to be different – willing to live her life for herself and not for other people,” she explained. “This fragrance is about my passion for individuality – being expressive and empowering, yes, but also emotional and intriguing. I promise you Reb’l Fleur will not be easily forgotten.”

Parlux Fragrances CEO Fred Purches added: “Rihanna is a compelling modern figure in today’s popular music scene. She is strong and iconic while still being sexy and appealing. Reb’l Fleur will express her vibrant personality with a bold, luxurious harmony. This will be a fragrance that is timeless in its sensuality but youthful in its upbeat contemporary appeal.”

The fragrance aims to evoke Barbados-born Rihanna’s roots, as well as the glamour of her present life in New York City. Composed by Caroline Sabas and Marypierre Julien, the fruity-chypre juice opens on notes of red berries, plum and peach, building to a floral heart of Hawaiian Hibiscus flower, violet, tuberose and coconut water. The base blends vanilla, patchouli, amber and musk.

The Reb’l Fleur flacon was inspired by the shape of a stiletto heel – a favourite shoe option for Rihanna. The bottle is embellished with a matte black ribbon effect.

The advertising campaign was created in partnership with Anthony Mandler, a music video director, filmmaker and frequent collaborator with Rihanna.

The Reb’l Fleur fragrance collection comprises a 1.7oz edp spray, a 3.4oz edp spray, and a 6.7oz body lotion, priced respectively at around US$49, US$59 and US$30, respectively.
