Pasco perfects high-fidelity sound for travellers – 16/10/07

Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 6 music player

GERMANY. German distributor Pasco is set to introduce new audio-visual products from leading brands Bang & Olufsen, Harman Kardon and JBL at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes (Stand number: Marine R1).

Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 6

The new portable music player from Bang & Olufsen is called BeoSound 6. Offered with a leather bag and travel charger as well as earphones, the BeoSound 6 is said to provide superior sound quality.

BeoSound 6 is based on a Samsung platform with acoustic refinements such as the high performance on signal-to-noise. The bass boost function has been optimised to the lightweight earphones that come with it. The dynamic full-tone loudspeakers mounted on a telescopic bar are constructed according to the open loudspeaker principle that allows you to hear a non-intrusive amount of the surrounding sound at lower volume levels.

Bang & Olufsen has developed a simple and free software solution, BeoPlayer, which accesses and organises all music files on the PC, and conveniently transfers them to the BeoSound 6. You can download MP3 and WMA music files instantly, and convert AAC files with BeoPlayer. There is room for more than 1,000 songs on the BeoSound 6.

The front and rear sides of the product are surrounded by a stainless steel frame. The back features a black soft-touch lacquered surface while the front has a black LCD display with a simple graphical user interface and a keypad underneath the display.

The user experience is enhanced by the extended battery life, allowing up to 40 hours of playback – more than twice the market standard for battery life. The navigation bar indicates with a colour change when the battery needs to be charged.

Harman Kardon Go + Play

The Harman Kardon Go + Play portable iPod sound station allows an iPod to be securely cradled in a flat position.

The unit features a stainless-steel handle, touch volume and mute controls. The RF remote controls volume, track selection and iPod menu controls at a range of up to 30 feet, even through walls.

Combining bi-amped digital amplification, DSP (digital sound processing) and Ridge and Atlas transducers, Harman Kardon Go + Play is said to produce powerful bass and clean treble. Eight D cell batteries allow the user to bring the Harman Kardon Go + Play virtually anywhere, and to enjoy tunes for up to 18 hours of continuous playback.

The product has a battery-saving shut-off feature, or alternatively, AC power can be used. For versatility, an S-video connection is provided, allowing users to connect to a TV or monitor to watch video from an iPod.

Offered in black, the Harman Kardon Go + Play has a suggested retail price of €349 and will be available at major retailers from November 2007.
