PeppaRose taps into growing demand for pre-loved luxury handbags with silk Scarfette

Sustainable fashion brand PeppaRose has unveiled the Scarfette, a travel-inspired silk accessory that taps into the fast-growing resale fashion market.

As platforms such as The RealReal, Fashionphile and cruise ship retailers reported record sales of pre-loved handbags from top brands, including Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Chanel, PeppaRose has expanded its accessory line-up to help personalise, protect and elevate these fashion investments.

Stylish and smart, PeppaRose’s Scarfettes capture the rising trend in luxury handbag styling and preservation

Citing industry reports, PeppaRose noted that the second-hand luxury goods market is projected to nearly double (from US$37.2 billion in 2024 to US$77.8 billion by 2033), driven by growing consumer demand for sustainability and individuality in fashion.

PeppaRose Founder and Creative Director Jacqueline Lampert said, “Our customers are already buying pre-loved luxury handbags – they’re motivated by style with a story. The Scarfette adds a fresh, personalised layer to their individual look.”

The Scarfette offers a modern take on the slim silk scarf popularised by French luxury houses – introducing bold colours, versatile styling and a new way to customise luxury handbags.

Made in Italy using 100% silk and sustainable printing processes, the accessory features reversible, hand-drawn artwork – combining craftsmanship with dual styling options.

Featuring destination-inspired packaging, Scarfettes stand out as both a chic travel keepsake and a meaningful present

Handmade in PeppaRose’s Colorado studio, each design takes cues from popular destinations, including Capri’s lemon groves, the Galápagos coral reefs and the regal leopards of southern Africa.

The Scarfettes are thoughtfully designed to meet consumer needs, blending style with function. They feature wrap-around handles to revive or protect worn areas, can be tied into a bow for a chic flourish of colour and shape, and add personality to classic handbags.

Designed for gifting, the Scarfettes come in vibrant, custom boxes that highlight each artwork, and are finished with a ribbon for a polished presentation.

PeppaRose emphasised that Scarfettes deliver strong sales in compact retail environments such as duty-free, in-flight retail and cruise stores.

Lampert said, “Scarfettes tick all the boxes for retailers. Lightweight, travel-friendly and one-size, they offer retailers a high-value sales item with excellent revenue per square foot.

“For travellers, the ready-to-gift packaging drives impulse sales, with the destination-inspired designs adding emotional and cultural value – perfect for sense of place. A compact shelf can generate thousands in just a few days. It’s high-margin, low-footprint retail, with built-in story appeal.”
