Pernod Ricard introduces Oak by Absolut to travel retail

Oak by Absolut is said to bring a unique twist to classic drinks

Following its domestic launch in selected US cities, Oak by Absolut is making its travel retail debut this month in the Gulf before rolling out to the Americas in February, followed by Europe and Asia in March and August, respectively.

Oak by Absolut, priced at US$28.99, is created through a multi-step process of combining original Absolut Vodka with barrel rested and oak macerated Absolut Vodka.

The complex character of the vodka is developed using Swedish, American and French oak in a method involving virgin barrels, oak macerations that have been toasted to a precise degree, as well as carefully selected bourbon barrels. The multi-step process is said to add a new depth of character and richness to the vodka, providing a “smooth and subtly smoky flavour”, with notes of vanilla, caramel and toasted oak.

Absolut said it is looking to take the brand’s spirit of innovation even further by elevating the vodka category and introducing new complexities and character to the spirit.

Absolut Director of Sensory Design Per Hermansson said: “I was inspired to create Oak by Absolut by the emerging trend of unique barrel-aged cocktails that bring a new versatility and flavour to even the simplest of cocktails. I wanted to see what could happen if we brought this new flavour dimension directly to the base spirit. The end result is better than we could have ever imagined.”
