AUSTRALIA. Perth Airport has announced McDonald’s and Dan Murphy’s will be joining its Airport West Precinct, its retail, food & beverage and office development close to Perth’s Redcliffe underground station.

McDonald’s will open its 100th store in Western Australia (WA) on the precinct’s Dunreath Drive, while liquor store Dan Murphy’s – which has more than 250 sites across the country – will add to the lineup in the Dunreath Village area.

The airport stated that the Airport West Precinct is now arguably among the city’s top shopping destinations, while the number of jobs created at the 9,500sq m development now exceeds 1,200.

Perth Airport Chief Property Officer Dan Sweet said that the airport has invested significantly in commercial and industrial property on the estate, and is a prime example of its commitment to supporting the WA economy.

Perth Airport Chief Property Officer Dan Sweet underlined the airport’s commitment to supporting the wider Western Australia economy

He added: “Perth Airport is now a major employment centre and property developer, which supports jobs growth and economic activity; it has become a very important part of our business.

“Since 2018, DFO Perth, Costco Warehouse, Woolworths, Priceline and Sushi Hub have all opened in the Airport West Precinct, creating more than 1,200 ongoing and retail jobs.

“We’ve been focused on providing all the conveniences of a local shopping centre for passengers, airport workers and the local community.

“We are engaging with two more high-profile tenants for the remaining sites and look forward to announcing them in the New Year.”

Redcliffe Station, which opened in October 2022, facilitates underground commuter rail services in Redcliffe, east of Perth, Western Australia. The station is one of three that were built as part of the Forrestfield-Airport Link project and is served by Transperth’s Airport line services.

Sweet continued: “With the development of Redcliffe Station, we wanted to ensure that there was going to be a balanced mix of retail, food & beverage, and office spaces within walking distance of the new public transport network.

“The decision of big-ticket retailers to invest in the precinct is a huge vote of confidence in Perth Airport and the WA economy. The precinct provides local jobs and shopping convenience for the people of Redcliffe and makes the region an even more attractive place to live or work.

“We are confident that our investment in the facilities available in this precinct will become a drawcard for businesses looking at basing their offices at Perth Airport, as well as savvy shoppers looking for a bargain, as well as providing everyday convenience for local residents.” ✈
