AUSTRALIA. Aspire Lounge at Perth Airport, operated by Swissport, has added a new accolade to its credentials after receiving an Airport Excellence Commercial Award at the National Airport Industry Awards. The awards are run by the Australian Airports Association.
This latest recognition for the Terminal 1 loungecomes hot on the heels of the facility being named Best Airport Lounge in Oceania at the World Travel Awards in September.

The pay-per-use airport lounge – opened in March this year – has facilities including extensive seating, shower facilities, baby change stations, and charging stations. Its food & beverage offer features local beers and regional wines.
The lounge features Pilbara stone benches and also houses artwork and installations by local artists Michael Haluwana, Barry McGuire and Yondee Shane Hansen.
Perth Airport said the prestigious award recognises the quality of the lounge’s design and construction, which was successfully carried out during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Perth Airport Chief Executive Officer Kevin Brown said: “Starting construction during COVID was certainly a risk for our team but for us to be airport-ready and provide passengers with a world-class experience when borders reopened was always our priority.”
He added: “Working closely with Swissport and our design team, we created a uniquely WA [Western Australia] space which can be enjoyed by all passengers, regardless of the airline they’re travelling with.”

The newly named Airport FAB + Hospitality Conference & Awards will embrace all airport food & beverage, lounge, hotel and other F&B related hospitality services. The event, held virtually this year, will return to its traditional late June timing. The Moodie Davitt Report is currently in discussions with prospective host airports and the chosen venue will be announced in due course.
