Want to talk about your pet subject?*If you would like to feature (with your pet) in a forthcoming edition of this regular column, please contact Colleen Morgan at Colleen@MoodieDavittReport.com |
The Moodie Davitt Report is delighted to bring you the latest edition in our Pet-sonality Profile column, in association with Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
In this regular fun feature, we discover more about travel retail pet-sonalities, their back stories, traits and habits, as well as offering some insights into their owners. Each pet-sonality is also painted digitally by pets and equine artist Sami Moodie.
In this edition we meet Go Travel Vice President of Sales Denz van der List and Jazz, a lively young rescue dog who loves the outdoors nearly as much as she loves her ‘siblings’.
Name + nickname: Jazz aka Jazzy.
Breed: That’s a good question. Jazz is a mixture of Chihuahua, Jack Russell, Coyote, and, I suspect from her legs, possibly a giraffe.
How old is Jazz? She was born in Los Angeles on 14 October 2018.
How did you meet? My wife and I were looking for a small dog to grow up with our kids and we came across websites featuring all sorts of dogs – from puppies to fully-grown, older characters – that were for sale or adoption. Many were rescue dogs from shelters.
When we first saw Jazz, she was lively but in very poor condition; so small and so sick. I really believed we saved her by taking her home and then very quickly to the vet who assured us she would be fine with treatment and medication.
The funny thing is that we were also told that Jazz would stay small, but her legs just got longer and longer. She was from the San Fernando Valley, in the hills north of Los Angeles, so we definitely think she is part Coyote.
Love at first sight? Absolutely. As a puppy Jazz was so small, she fitted in the inside pocket of my jacket.
Quirky habits? Jazz barks at first sight, but within 30 seconds she will be all over any visitor that comes to our house. She just loves to cuddle, all day long if possible. And those who have been to our home, well, they fall in love with her.
Another quirky habit is that she will not get up in the morning until we get up. Strange.
Funniest and/or nicest moment? Jazzy loves her walks; they cannot be long enough. She’s always very willing to help me get those 10,000 steps per day, or a good run in. She even enjoys going for a 5km bike ride keeping pace beside me.
Jazzy has her own way of convincing me to take her along on a run. She just stares at me when I’m putting my shoes on… and who can say no?
Favourite trick? And treat? Her rollover mode. She will do that without asking if she thinks she can get a treat. And her favourite treat? Definitely a ‘Puppicino’ at Starbucks.
If Jazz could talk what would her first words be? That’s easy. “Take me with you.”
Favourite airport/airline? Jazz has never been on a plane but I am sure she will one day. She already has her own to accompany her on road trips.
Our biggest was during a move from California to Miami in 2019, 3,000 miles across the USA. We definitely had to sneak her into some places on that adventure.
Anything else we should know? Jazz adores her two older brothers and sister and will protect them at any cause. And posing with them in a picture? Not a problem at all.
