Want to talk about your pet subject?*If you would like to feature (with your pet) in a forthcoming edition of this regular column, please contact Colleen Morgan at Colleen@MoodieDavittReport.com |
The Moodie Davitt Report is delighted to bring you the latest edition in our Pet-sonality Profile column, in association with Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
In this regular fun feature, we discover more about travel retail pet-sonalities, their back stories, traits and habits, as well as offering some insights into their owners. Each pet-sonality is also painted digitally by pets and equine artist Sami Moodie.
In this edition we meet Proximo Global Travel Retail Regional Director Asia Pacific/Subcontinent Aaron Lay and his fun-filled food-loving dogs Emmett and Lenny.
Names + nicknames: Emmett is also known as Snoop, Snoopy, Pupper, Emmett von Beaglehausen and, last but not least, the Big Oaf. Lenny answers to Len, Leonard, Leonardo, Big Potato, Sos, Sossy and Wormhound.
Breeds: Emmett is a Beagle and Lenny is a Dachshund – Mini allegedly.
How old? Emmett has just turned four and Lenny is 11.
How did you meet? Emmett leapt into my arms at the breeder’s house. Lenny was originally my mother’s pet. My wife Astrid and I now look after him in his senior years. He’s down a few kilos and enjoying life.
Love at first sight? Absolutely for both. As I mentioned, Emmett just bounded into my arms and, well, there are not many things cuter than mini ‘sausage’ dogs.
Quirky habits? Emmett barks at large dogs like Wolfhounds, German Shepherds or Boxers but backs away from yappy small dogs, Pomeranians, Pugs and the likes.
Lenny has a penchant for aggressive requests for pats and attention. He’ll use his hunting bred sharp nose to force your hand to him for pats. His rather cute howling is reserved for passing emergency services sirens.
Funniest and/or nicest moment? Emmett’s habit of endless nooking [a self-soothing behaviour where the dog will suckle on a blanket or a soft toy without destroying it] and snuggling to be right next to us is always nice and Lenny has the most charismatic and loving eyes. Seems they are never far away.
Favourite trick? And treat? Well, Emmett has stop, heel, roll and shake hands all mastered. His favourite treat is discarded roadside KFC chicken. If it’s in the suburb he will sniff it out.
Lenny’s a senior ‘pupizen’, so not many tricks now. However, he can sit on command, but only on carpet. Hard surfaces a no-no for Lenny’s tooshie.
Social media account? Emmett is definitely an off-grid beagle, no socials. And Lenny is a Boomer in dog years, so no.
If Emmett and Lenny could talk what would their first words be? The answer is the same for both here: “I’m hungry” (for me as well probably).
Favourite airport/airline? Emmett hasn’t flown yet. He likes riding in the car so I believe he would really take to flying. Not much travel for ol’ Lenny. Most trips are to the vet so he’s always rather sus!
Anything else we should know?
Emmett loves an afternoon ‘zoomie’ in the living room, accompanied by wolf-like howls. He’s definitely the Batman while Lenny is the trusty Robin sidekick.
Having said that, Lenny is the more aggressive of the hound duo at our place. If he sees anything on a walk, he transforms from hound to patriot missile and is off in a flash to the target.
