IRELAND. Peterson of Dublin, which is celebrating 140 years in the tobacco products business, highlighted its range of gift packs at the TFWA Asia Pacific show in Singapore last week.
Managing Director and owner Tom Palmer said the company was focusing on its gift-related products following a perceived shift in the market towards people buying tobacco products as a gift for smokers.
The company’s flagship Gift Collection comprises a number of different gift boxes, each retailing at under €100. Examples include a pipe with a tin of tobacco; a pipe and pouch; and a pipe with lighter. Palmer said the medium-priced products represented the “affordable luxury” end of the market.
Cigar selection boxes are available in eye-catching black and white packaging. Examples of the contents include three cigars plus a cutter and three cigars and a cigar case.
Also on offer is a selection box containing the company’s five best-selling tobacco blends: Old Dublin, Irish Oak, Sherlock Holmes, Sunset Breeze and Sweet Killarney. The box has an outer sleeve with the product information inside.
Palmer said the company entered the travel retail channel two years ago, putting the focus on the Middle Eastern and Asian markets. The products are already listed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Bahrain Duty Free and Qatar Duty Free. This was the company’s second showing at the Singapore exhibition.
