USA. Phoenix City Council this week approved the second and final phase of the retail overhaul at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport Terminal 4. The board confirmed the appointment of a Dufry-led joint venture to run two duty free stores, as well as contracts for Casa Unlimited Enterprises, Inc, Avila Retail Development and Management, LLC, Paradies Lagardere @ PHX LLC and InMotion Entertainment Group, LLC.
In total, this phase will add 16 new retail stores. These include one of the first TripAdvisor airport stores (we reported news this week of another at Raleigh-Durham Airport), the first store in an airport with Lucky brand merchandise, Sky Harbor’s first Brookstone outlet and a drug store with a medical clinic and a doctor on staff.

As previously reported, a Dufry Phoenix Retailers joint venture was recommended in February to operate two duty free concessions, after its bid was scored higher than those from Duty Free Americas and SFS PHX. The duty free/duty paid spaces span 1,069sq ft and 1,050sq ft respectively.

New concepts confirmed for phase two include:
*Azcentral.com – This store will offer periodicals, books, travel essentials, snacks, bottled water, soft drinks and souvenirs.
*Brookstone – Phoenix Sky Harbor’s first store for the specialist gifts, toys and gadgets retailer.
*Connections – This shop offers periodicals, snacks, last-minute travel needs and souvenirs.
*Drugs & More – A new airport drug store featuring last-minute purchase options as well as over-the-counter medication. It will house Mach1Medical, Sky Harbor’s first full service medical clinic. The clinic offers a doctor on staff, prescriptions, physicals, and more.
*TripAdvisor – Among the the first airport locations for the travel website. Featuring periodicals, books, last-minute needs and souvenirs.
*En Route Travel – Accessories and luggage.
*Indigenous (three locations) – Offering gifts, collectibles and souvenirs. This store also features many Native American items that are exclusive to Arizona and the Southwest.
*InMotion Entertainment (two locations) – Electronics, headphones, accessories and more.
*Lucky Break – The first Lucky Brand airport store, featuring Lucky Brand fashion jewellery and accessories.
*Phoenix Duty Free (two locations) – Sky Harbor’s first combined duty free and duty paid store.
*Sonora Southwest Living – A lifestyle store offering homeware, including accessories, furniture, and other merchandise.
*Tumi – Featuring luggage and travel accessories.

These stores will open in phases through the end of the first quarter of 2018.
New retail locations already open as part of the first phase of the retail renovation include shops selling local merchandise such as Arizona Highways, Bunky Boutique, Cactus Candy and Roosevelt Row, as well as national brands like Brooks Brothers, Johnston and Murphy, Fire CZ, Sunglass Hut and more.
