HONG KONG. It was a night of great poignancy and much generosity. And it was a night when travel retail executives heard one of the most memorable speeches in their collective experience – not from a senior business executive but from a Chinese teenager, Wang Li, who could barely speak seven years ago.
The occasion was “˜Turning Tears into Smiles’, a fund-raising dinner on behalf of children’s cleft palate charity The Smile Train. Co-hosted by Hugo Boss and The Moodie Report, the dinner attracted an audience of just under 300 guests and proceeds from the evening and related events have now raced past US$300,000.
We’ll bring you a full report in the forthcoming issue of The Moodie Report Print Edition. But in the meantime, here are some memorable images that capture the excitement, emotion, passion and poignancy of a unique fund-raising evening.
