Plaza Premium Group opens fourth Australia lounge at Adelaide Airport

AUSTRALIA. Plaza Premium Group (PPG) has unveiled the first dedicated international common-user lounge in Adelaide Airport’s international departures zone. The facility is the company’s fourth location in the country.

The 532 sq m lounge accommodates up to 137 guests and is expected to host both international and local travellers, mainly South Australian residents travelling out across Oceania, Asia, the US and the UK.

The lounge in Adelaide Airport draws design inspiration from South Australia

The lounge’s design evokes a strong South Australian Sense of Place. It incorporates natural stone, marble, granite and travertine, timber, and a raked render finish throughout. The bright and warm space also includes a selection of contemporary feature lighting and furniture.

Further, the lounge features artworks by award-winning South Australian artists Miranda Lloyd and Julie Perri.

Seeking to enhance travellers’ airport experience, the lounge also offers PPG’s first specialty wine feature in collaboration with Accolade Wines, showcasing award-winning Australian wines.

The lounge includes a bar, dining area, private booths for business travellers, and shower facilities.

PPG also noted some sustainable elements of the new facility. It has eliminated single-use plastics, the lighting scheme is comprised of 100% LED lighting and it is installed with energy-efficient appliances and water-saving devices.

Adelaide Airport Managing Director Brenton Cox said: “We’re excited that for the first time, all our international departing and transit passengers have the option to relax in a wonderful premium lounge space before their flight.

“This is one of the final pieces of our AU$200 million [US$134.5 million] terminal expansion project that has also seen a significant upgrade of our international arrivals and departures facilities including expanded duty free, more room for immigration processing and more baggage belts for arriving passengers.”

Plaza Premium Group Oceania Regional General Manager Poh Kiat Lee commented: “We are delighted to be the first and only international lounge at Adelaide Airport offering departing and transit passengers their own lounge to relax before flying just steps from departure gates.

“This is our fourth major city location in Australia, each lounge’s design reflects the personality of its home city. We are excited to bring our exceptional hospitality to Adelaide, setting a new standard of offerings, welcoming guests to experience our award-winning service amongst local touches of South Australia.”

The lounge at Adelaide Airport adds to Plaza Premium Group’s expanding global network, following recent lounge openings in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Orlando, Edinburg, Cebu and Dubai.

It is open daily to all travellers and accepts walk-ins. Smart Travellermembers are entitled to a -20% discount all year round off walk-in rates.

Through PPG, travellers have the options to choose an Australia Pass which gives access to all Plaza Premium Lounges in Australia including Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Alternatively they can opt for the Kangarooroute where a multi-country pass gives travellers access to lounges across Australia, Southeast Asia and the UK.
