In his welcome address to guests, Plaza Premium Lounge Management Limited Founder & CEO Song Hoi-See said: “This airport lounge is one-of-a-kind; we are very proud to launch this new generation of our lounges in HKIA and we are grateful for the strong leadership and vision of the Airport Authority.
“Together with our lounges in East Hall and Arrival Hall, I am confident that this new facility will serve to enhance the overall airport experience for all passengers travelling through the airport, and will become a must-visit destination when visiting Hong Kong.
“Since its inception, this facility has been met with overwhelming support. I hope travellers will take the time to enjoy our contemporary design, customised features and thoughtful layout with the individual zones, each one created to fulfill a different purpose.”
As reported, the expansive 24-hour retreat – centrally located in the airport’s West Hall (near Gate 40) – measures 15,000sq ft and is hailed as the largest pay-in lounge in Asia.
Designed by Kinney Chan of Kinney Chan & Associates, the lounge concept features careful partitioning and design details that create separate environments for work, relaxation, dining or socialising. It is also designed to take full advantage of the view of the airport tarmac.

Hui continued: “Throughout the years, we have strived to create a pleasant and enjoyable experience for passengers at our airport. The spacious passenger terminals, modern facilities, lively environment, and a plethora of shopping and dining choices have earned an unparalleled reputation for HKIA.
“For those who prefer a more solitary and private moment before boarding, the Plaza Premium lounges offer an attractive complement to the airport’s facilities. I am sure that the West Hall Lounge will continue this success, providing the same relaxing environment and enticing refreshment options for our passengers.”
In addition to the ribbon-cutting, plaque unveiling and celebratory toasts, guests were also entertained with a lion dance. They also had a chance to sample the wide variety of dining options available at The Market Place, including local delicacies, freshly-baked pastries, Hong Kong specialties and healthy dishes.
For the opening event, Plaza Premium Lounge created an exclusive one-day-only dish of Roasted Duck Rice in Fish Soup, inspired by its signature Hong Kong-style Fish Ball Noodles Soup. To top it off, guests were also treated to a live demonstration of the creation of Hong Kong-style Milk Tea, made fresh upon order.
As part of its interactive service, Plaza Premium Lounge has also installed a wine machine that will introduce wines by grape varietals or by region to give guests a better understanding of wine culture. At the opening celebration, guests were introduced to American wines from New York by Uncorked Wines.
