HONG KONG. Coinciding with the company’s 15th anniversary, Plaza Premium Lounge has officially opened its flagship lounge at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
As reported, the expansive 24-hour retreat – centrally located in the airport’s West Hall – measures 15,000sq ft and is hailed as the largest pay-in lounge in Asia.
Designed by Kinney Chan of Kinney Chan & Associates, the design includes a series of customised features to contribute to “a sense of exclusivity and bespoke comfort”, the company explained. It is divided into several zones; each area fulfills a different purpose – relaxing, dining or working – and is designed accordingly.
With its entrance and Plaza Premium Lounge logo visible from the walkway, the lounge’s reception area leads to the main lounge where guests are greeted by a variety of seating configurations. The honeycomb-styled chairs, a highlight of the lounge, provide individual booth-like spaces for extra privacy. Other seating options include clusters of plush lounge chairs and reclining chairs strategically placed throughout the lounge.
The lounge and bar areas feature soft lighting, hushed tones and subtle textures while the dining spaces feature open kitchens and bold colours. A neutral palette is used to convey warmth, while the full-length windows invite natural light into the space.
At the fully-equipped working station, executives can stay connected with the lounge’s free Wi-Fi, charge up their devices in one of the many power sockets, and complete a transaction at the private workstations.
Visitors preparing for a long-haul flight or transit passengers can freshen up in one of the two showers, each one stocked with organic Jasmin Aromatique products from Australia.

Plaza Premium Lounge has also introduced a new dining concept in the West Hall Lounge: The Market Place comprises a range of food and beverage stalls, from a tea station serving Chinese milk tea and artisan, a salad bar, to a Noodle Bar serving its signature Hong Kong-style fish ball noodles, steamed rice rolls and steamed dim sum.
Interactivity is at the heart of the food concept, the company underlined. In the bar area, The Hub, together with the wine dispenser, hot and cold tapas will be served daily; this includes croquettes, daily soups, mezza platters, etc. First class guests are served an a la carte menu, where the slow-cooked rack of lamb roasted with Himalayan salt and rosemary with a side serving of thin-cut roast potatoes serve as the highlight.
Plaza Premium Lounge will provide around-the-clock dining options. Each evening a selection of hot and cold tapas will be served in the two bars, complemented with a selection of wines.
A range of wines from around the world will also be available via a newly introduced self-serve wine dispenser. The wine menu will be regularly updated to focus on a different country or region each time.
