CHINA. Pola Orbis Travel Retail has partnered with China Duty Free Group to open the first Pola counter in Hainan at the CDF Haikou Mova Mall in downtown Sanya. A second location is planned for next year.

Pola Orbis Travel Retail plans to expand its presence in China with an accelerated store roll-out from this year.

Headquartered in Hong Kong, Pola Orbis Travel Retail was established to oversee and operate the growing travel retail business of Pola Orbis Holdings.

Pola’s China sales saw a +120% year-on-year increase in the first quarter of 2021 with high growth rates in both physical and ecommerce channels, said the company.

Pola said it is seeking to capitalise on growing domestic demand in China and the expanded offshore duty free shopping policy in Hainan. It will continue to view China as a key market, increase engagement with Chinese consumers, expand its duty free network, and proactively grow its business in the region, it said.

Pola is the group’s flagship brand. In August 2019, it opened its first airport counter with The Shilla Duty Free at Singapore Changi Airport.
