GERMANY. Porsche Design has signed a co-operation agreement for a writing instruments range with Pelikan. Under the deal, Pelikan becomes the German design company’s new licence partner, replacing Faber-Castell.
According to the agreement, from January 2010 Pelikan will produce high quality writing instruments under the Porsche Design brand and sell them worldwide.
Porsche Design Group and Pelikan International Corporation Berhad signed the agreement for a long-term co-operation on 30 December 2009.
“Pelikan fountain pens are much sought-after among collectors the world over,” said Porsche Design Group CEO Dr Juergen Gessler. “The company’s experience in this area reaches back to the 19th century and set a milestone with the introduction of the first piston mechanism fountain pen in 1929.
“In particular, their comprehensive expertise in product development and the manufacturing of high quality writing instruments are perfect attributes for the successful co-operation with Porsche Design. In addition, Pelikan shares with us a passion for innovative, high quality and luxury products that give joy for a lifetime.”
