Porsche Design makes strides in Sport line – 10/12/07

The new Low V Sweater and golf shoe

GERMANY. Porsche Design has unveiled details of its hi-tech premium sports collection for spring/summer 2008, produced in partnership with adidas.

Available in-store from January 2008, the Spring/Summer 2008 Porsche Design Sport product line is divided in four categories – Driving, Golf, Running and Tennis – spanning footwear, apparel, accessories and hardware.

Technologies such as adiPrene as well as fabrics including Coolmax are said to offer moisture management at its highest levels. In addition, the adidas Formotion technology is designed to provide enhanced freedom of movement and performance.

Key footwear styles include the Bounce:S, which is the new premium adidas Porsche Design Sport running shoe that ensures a new cushioning experience, according to Porsche Design.

Whereas traditional running shoes drain the energy with thick, dense foam, the Bounce:S returns more of the energy for a smooth, stable ride by using a suspension system of metallic springs. When the foot touches down, the coils expand, absorbing the impact.

When the foot steps up, the spring contracts, sending stored energy back into the athlete’s stride. Bounce:S cushions the initial impact of each step and then recoils and snaps back, launching you into your next move.

This new suspension system is claimed to provide 20% more cushioning and 15% more elasticity than standard running shoes. In a further innovation, the premium golf shoe Golf Spikeless is provided with a comfortable and breathable mesh insert.

Apparel highlights include the wind-resistant and water-repellent Ultralight Jacket with mesh inserts for increased air circulation around the body which helps to regulate temperature.

This season is characterised through fashionable pieces such as The Low V Sweater, a stylish two-toned lightweight knit with a two-layer effect and a flat knit collar.

The adidas Porsche Design Sport bag collection is said to harmonise with the four sport categories. Their size ranges from spacious, such as the Sportbag XL, to practical bags like the Shoebag 2.

The colour palette consists of black, white, beige and grey, as well as bright yellow and blue.

The collection will be available in selected high-end stores, adidas Sport Performance concept stores and Porsche Design Stores worldwide.
