ITALY. The Porsche Design Group has opened a new downtown Porsche Design Store on Via Tornabuoni, Florence, Italy.
Dr Siegmund Rudigier, President & CEO of the Porsche Design Group, said: “Over the next few years, Porsche Design will be developed into one of the leading premium brands in the high quality accessories segment. We are therefore pursuing an exclusive and selective sales concept for Porsche Design in line with its market position. It was only logical, for instance, to also be represented by a store in Florence.”
On the store’s concept, he commented: “The store itself will not espouse the conventional shop window display, rather it will mirror the products that Porsche Design offers. We have achieved this with the “˜Gate
to the Future’.”
The Gate to the Future consists of three plasma monitors located on the left, center and right walls of the store, and the scan table: a square slate block positioned in the center, incorporating a scanner and a monitor. When a customer places a product on this scan table, animated films incorporating product images and information appear on the three plasma monitors. An impression of an opening “Gate to the Future” is thus created virtually.
The products from Porsche Design is supported by the design of the store. Contrast is provided by the combination of natural materials, such as black stratified slate and smoked oak, with innovative hi-tech materials, and by the alternating RGB lighting atmosphere.
Stores such as the one in Florence will carry the entire product range of Porsche Design and communicate the brand idea and philosophy. Further distribution channels are franchise stores, shop-in-shops, upscale department stores and exclusive specialty stores.
