Porsche Design’s new All-weather Gore-Tex Jacket is modelled on motorsport racing suits


GERMANY. Porsche Design has presented a new motorsport collection of accessories and clothing in its Driver’s Selection series, inspired by the official team clothing of the works drivers in the Porsche Supercup.

The All-weather Gore-Tex Jacket in white and grey is modelled on motorsport racing suits. Intricate tape-sealing technology aims to ensure protection against wind and rain and offers optimum comfort. Only 911 of these jackets have been produced. The motorsport logos appear on the left breast and a large Porsche logo is featured on the back, together with the sponsors’ names.

The rain jacket and vest are also windproof and water-repellent and have been inspired by classical motorsport team clothing. The collection is rounded off by polo and rugby shirts, a fleece jacket, shirt and T-shirt.

The women’s collection, also available in white and grey, is finished with classical motorsport details and includes a top, polo-shirt and T-shirt.

For children there is a red and white T-shirt together with a matching cap. The collection is completed by matching accessories such as a lanyard, fabric belt and collectors’ cup. For the summer, a beach towel and knee-length board shorts are offered.

Model P’8810 reading glasses have an innovative folding mechanism inspired by the circular structure of a snail shell


New folding reading spectacles

Porsche Design has expanded its reading spectacles collection to include model P’8810, which has an innovative folding mechanism. Inspired by the circular structure of a snail shell, the spectacles consist of eight sub-segments that can be folded up to a minimum size of nine by three centimetres, which is not much bigger than a lighter. They can be folded in and out similarly in a spiral.

The material mix of titanium and hi-tech plastic is designed to give stability and wearing comfort. Anti-reflection Rodenstock lenses prevent reflections; they are also thin, light, unsusceptible to breaking and have a scratch-resistant coating. The spectacles are available in four lens thicknesses: +1.00/+1.50/+2.00 and +2.50 dioptres.

The glasses case is in a mobile phone format that opens automatically via a snap mechanism. The recommended retail price is €275, including VAT.

Exhibition of award-winning products

Porsche Design products featured at the recent International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York as examples of successful product design from Germany. The company displayed five exhibits within the “design deutschland” exhibition from 16 to 19 May, 2009.

Products on show included the Bounce:S running shoe, the P’6750 Worldtimer watch, the P’9522 mobile phone, the P’7111 desk lamp and the P’9120 table-top radio.

The award-winning ICFF exhibits are being displayed at Porsche Design stores in New York, Beverly Hills and across Europe.
