Porsche Design targets travellers with new collection in 50th anniversary year

Porsche Design introduces the new looks to celebrate its 50th anniversary this year

Lifestyle brand Porsche Design has revealed a new collection to target travelling shoppers in 2022, as the company marks its 50th anniversary.

According to the brand, three concepts – which launched in the channel in January – focus on perfection and precision while combining design and functionality. This year, Porsche Design aims to “optimise the function in all its releases and reduce the form to the basic essentials in order to find the best solutions for consumers”.

Its Hexagon range recalls the brand’s origins in performance and motorsport while Cyber Tec channels its forward-looking design and Hybrid seeks to “define new limits” in the sunglasses category.

Rodenstock Director Global Retail and International Key Accounts Eyewear Lucas Gestin described anniversary year 2022 as an exciting year for Porsche Design.

“It is fitting for a brand with style and innovation at its heart that half a century after it started, it is continuing to produce exciting and ground-breaking designs which will capture the attention of customers all over the world.

“As shoppers return to travel retail, they are looking for excitement and newness. The sunglasses category will play a key role in the coming recovery thanks to its inherent link with the travel experience, and these new ranges will stand out both on-shelf and online for retail partners.”

Hexagon offers two models (P’8937 and P’8938), with styling inspired by the Porsche 911 engine block. Each frame is individually screwed and hand-finished.

Cyber Tec also takes design cues from the Porsche 911 through clear outlines and earpiece elements echoing the sport car’s rear lights. The masculine design incorporates functional aspects and contrasting colours and is available in prescription frames (P’8732 and P’8733) and two sunglasses (P’8934 and P’8935).

Hybrid, which features a reduced upper edge frame design element, is available in two styles (P’8388 and P’8389) and three colours.
