UK/UAE. Powerful Glory, owned by Dubai Racing Club Chairman Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum, captured the big Group 2 race on Saturday during the Dubai Duty Free International Weekend, held at Newbury Racecourse, UK.
The weekend rounded off the airport retailer’s season of high-profile horseracing events which began in April with the Dubai Duty Free Spring Trials Weekend, also at Newbury. This was followed by the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at The Curragh in June, ahead of the premier international jockeys’ competition, the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup at Ascot in August.

Five Dubai Duty Free-sponsored races with prize money totalling £350,000 took place on day two of the Dubai Duty Free International Weekend. The lead race was the £100,000 Group 2 Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes for two-year-olds, won by Powerful Glory.
A broad range of Dubai Duty Free entertainment attracted racegoers to the company’s Arabic-themed marquee to sample complimentary Arabic coffee and dates and enjoy the chance to enter the Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise and Millennium Millionaire prize draws. ✈
