CZECH REPUBLIC. Prague Václav Havel Airport has issued a tender via The Moodie Davitt Report for a 30-year contract to operate a 200-room hotel on airport land. The new building will occupy a footprint of around 1,370sq m and represents an attractive opportunity for an investor, said the airport company. More details appear via the banner on our home page.
The tender follows the launch last week of the bid process for a ten-year duty free concession, with a link to the key details also available through The Moodie Davitt Report home page.

For the hotel investment, Prague Airport said it was seeking “a strong international partner to invest, build and run a new hotel in close vicinity of both airport terminals”.
It added in a statement: “In this way, Prague Airport intends to satisfy the increasing demand for hotel facilities, which a new hotel investor shall benefit from. The hotel building will become a significant part of the extensive development of Prague Airport’s landside area, which is to commence this year.”
The public tender is open to all international companies or consortiums “with experience in the development and operation of at least seven hotels”. The hotel will house six floors above ground and four underground.
The deadline for the first tender round is 30 April. The contract with the winning candidate should be finalised by next year.
As reported, the airport has embarked on a €1 billion modernisation plan, which will include an extended T2 and new landside facilities, accompanied by a search for commercial partners.
As noted, the ten-year duty free contract covers 4,372sq m across terminals 1 and 2. It will include new walk-through space of 1,489sq m in Terminal 1. Categories covered by the tender include core category duty free, fashion and gifts.
The bid deadline is 2 April, with a winner likely to be named by July. The airport company said the lease is expected to run from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2029.
Prague Vaclav Havel Airport handled an estimated 16.8 million passengers in 2018, up by around +9%, with volumes forecast to rise to 21 million by 2025.
