Priority Pass names EuroAirport Skyview as world’s best airport lounge

Look twice: The EuroAirport Skyview Lounge has scooped the global award for the second time

INTERNATIONAL. The Swissport-operated EuroAirport Skyview Lounge has been named as the world’s best airport lounge in an annual awards list.

The lounge at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, the only bi-national airport in the world, has picked up the Priority Pass Global Airport Lounge of the Year Award 2015, having also won the title in 2012.

The awards are voted for by Priority Pass Members and this year is the eleventh edition. EuroAirport has previously won the regional European award on four occasions. The 1,700sq m lounge combines Swiss and French architecture and design and features a glass dome that brings natural light into the heart of the lounge, a terrace overlooking the airport runway and palm trees that surround a pool of water.

Among this year’s regional winners were the Crown Lounge at Jordan’s Amman Queen Alia International in the Africa & Middle East category, and the Louis Tavern CIP First Class Lounge at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International in the Asia Pacific category.

The Salon VIP Lounge at Québec Jean Lesage International came first in North America, while Aeroportos VIP Club at Brasilia International was the winner in the Latin America & The Caribbean category.

EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg Director Matthias Suhr said: “We pride ourselves on a high standard of lounge service and constantly strive to improve passenger comfort – a great example of this is making a range of hot food available to lounge guests throughout the day.

“After achieving European recognition in previous years we are absolutely delighted to receive this year’s global award which is testament to our ongoing investment in the airport’s infrastructure and to our commitment to quality services.”

Priority Pass said it received more than 100,000 member votes in this year’s poll, up from 84,000 votes last year, making it the highest volume of votes since the awards began.
