
Premium beauty company Puig has acquired a majority stake in German molecular cosmetics brand Dr. Barbara Sturm.
Founder Dr Barbara Sturm will retain a minority stake in the business and continue her eponymous brand’s product development as Chief Product Development Officer and Brand Ambassador.
Dr. Barbara Sturm is a globally recognised luxury skincare brand with a strong digital, spa and retail network. The brand offers high-performance treatments leveraging Dr Sturm’s expertise in skincare and orthopaedic science.
Dr Sturm is a well-known German doctor, aesthetics expert and anti-inflammatory pioneer with a background in orthopaedic research.
In 2002, Dr Sturm translated the science from her clinical research and orthopaedic practice into the world of aesthetics with her MCX treatment, a Platelet-Rich Plasma now known as the ‘Blood Facial’.
She followed this with the launch of her MC1 cream (Molecular Cosmetics Cream), a plasma-based moisturiser that uses the power of the body’s own proteins to heal the skin.
In 2014, Dr Sturm created her first full anti-inflammatory collection and the Dr. Barbara Sturm brand was born. The collections are based on 25 years of scientific research and offer more than 5,000 skincare routines. All products are free from synthetic fragrances, harsh preservatives and parabens. They are also cruelty free and suitable for all skin types.
Puig is committed to driving the brand’s international expansion and to developing its existing network of spas and boutiques across Düsseldorf, London, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas, Jakarta and Singapore.
