Puig and Paco Rabanne take Black XS portfolio to fragrant new L’Excès

Puig will introduce two new fragrances from Paco Rabanne – Black XS L’Excès and Black XS L’Excès For Her – into the Americas from March. Both will build on the success of the original Black XS duo.

The new “rock” scents are described as intense, powerful, glamorous, sensual and vibrant. As their name suggests, they aim to take the Black XS concept to excess.

The Black XS L’Excès world is encapsulated in the ad campaign, shot by Swedish director Jonas Akerlund. Acknowledged as one of the most innovative video and commercial directors of his generation, Akerlund has won Grammy and NRJ Music Awards. He has worked with top international acts such as Madonna, U2, Robbie Williams, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé.

The commercial features models Sasha Pivovarova and Nick Rae, in addition to guest artist singer/songwriter Iggy Pop, who perfectly embodies the values of rock and excess, according to the brand. He performs the voiceover and also makes an offbeat cameo appearance.

The Black XS L’Excès juice, composed by Fabrice Pellegrin, is described as a powerful woody aromatic with a striking trail. It opens on top notes of Calabrian lemon and lavender, building to an ozonic, cypriol and cistus heart accord. The base blends amber and patchouli.

Black XS L’Excès For Her, created by Emilie Coppermann, is an oriental floral fragrance. It features top notes of neroli and black pepper, atop a heart of jasmine and rose. The dry-down includes cashmere wood and vanilla.

Black XS L’Excès is presented in a black lacquer and silver flacon, with matching outer packaging. The flacon for Black XS L’Excès For Her is a curved garnet. A skull motif features as a glossy watermark on the outer cartons, and on the bottles themselves, in the form of a piercing for the masculine version and a charm for the feminine fragrance.

Black XS L’Excès will be available as a 50ml and 100ml, according to different markets. Black XS L’Excès For Her will be available as a 30ml, 50ml and 80ml, depending on location.
