Puma backs Jamaica for sport success – 22/07/04

FRANCE. Cosmopolitan Cosmetics is rolling out its latest twin fragrance line from sports brand Puma.

The introduction aims to capitalise on the official partnership between Puma and the Jamaica Athletics Association, particularly during this August’s Olympic Games in Athens.

The fragrances are targeted at men and women aged 14 to 25, who identify Puma as a trendy, sport lifestyle brand.

Puma Jamaica Woman (pictured above) is a fresh, citrus fragrance, which opens on notes of blackcurrant, mandarin and yellow pear. These lead to a heart of rose, peach blossom and coconut, on a base of heliotrope, sandalwood and musk.

Puma Jamaica Man (pictured below) – described as “sunny and energy-charged” – features notes of lemon, sage, geranium and vanilla.

Colours for the packaging were inspired by the Jamaican flag; thus the women’s flacon is yellow and the men’s is green. The outer cartons also feature a stylised Jamaican flag motif, on a yellow background for the women’s scent and a dark-green/black background for the men’s.

The feminine line-up comprises a 30ml, 50ml and 100ml edt spray, a 200ml Happy Shower Gel, a 200ml Laid-Back Body Lotion, a 150ml Charming Deodorant Spray and a 75ml Gentle Deodorant Spray. Recommended domestic price points range from €7 to €35.

The men’s collection features a 50ml aftershave, 50ml and 100ml edt sprays, a 200ml Groovy Shower Gel, a 150ml Surprising Deodorant Spray, a 75ml Lively Deodorant Stick and a 75ml Relaxing Deodorant Stick. The price points range from €8 to €32.50.

Note: Puma is an official equipment supplier for the Jamaican national team, and supports all the teams of the Jamaican Olympic Association (JOA) and the Jamaican Amateur Athletics Association (JAAA). By the year 2008, about 6,000 athletes will have been outfitted with Puma shoes and clothing. During the Olympic Games, Puma is mounting a global brand campaign centred around Jamaica, which will highlight the affinity between the Puma brand and Jamaican culture.
