Pure Gold has extended its agreement with Muscat Duty Free |
OMAN. Leading jewellery retailer Pure Gold Jewellers has renewed its concession with Muscat Duty Free, where it is the exclusive jewellery retail partner.
The company has completed three years of operations at Muscat Duty Free, and said that since 2009, its business has grown by +53%.
Pure Gold Jewellers CEO & Managing Director Karim Merchant said: “We are honoured by the confidence and trust the Muscat Duty Free management has placed in us and we truly appreciate their decision to renew our agreement. This is in line with our Chairman’s vision to be the exclusive retailer for gold and jewellery in the major duty frees in this region and eventually all over the world. Oman’s push into tourism will definitely see a phenomenal increase in passenger traffic through Muscat International Airport and we are well placed to meet the resulting demand.”
He added: “With the support of the duty free management team we intend to double our business at Muscat Duty Free in the next three years.”
Muscat Duty Free General Manager Tom Byrne said “We consider Pure Gold as one of our long-term business partners and are very pleased to have them on board as part of our product offer. Pure Gold being the only gold and diamond jewellery outlet operating at Muscat International Airport, I am sure our customers will see a tremendous value in this partnership. Following renovation in 2011, Muscat Duty Free has seen a very positive response from our customers and we believe that our partnership with a prestige brand such as Pure Gold will continue to add to this success.”
Passenger traffic through Muscat International Airport has been rising sharply, passing 6 million for the first time in 2011 (6.4 million, up +12% on 2010). That trend has continued into 2012, with January figures rising by +18%.
As reported, Pure Gold is targeting airport expansion in the Middle East and India, having posted double-digit sales growth in travel retail last year.
