FRANCE. Qatar Holdings has stated its intention to retain its 11.52% stake in Lagardère Group, following the public offer launched by Vivendi for a full takeover of shares in the Lagardère Travel Retail parent. Qatar Holding is an investment company founded in 2006 and wholly owned by the Qatar Investment Authority.
Qatar Holdings said in a statement on Sunday: “In response to a request by Lagardère S.A. regarding its intention, Qatar Holding LLC indicates that it does not intend to tender its shares in Lagardère S.A. to the main or secondary branch of the public offer filed by Vivendi on 21 February 2022 and approved by the Autorité des marchés financiers on 12 April 2022.
“Qatar Holding LLC may consider acquiring or selling Lagardère S.A. shares depending on market opportunities and/or applicable regulatory requirements.”

As reported, media powerhouse Vivendi announced plans last year to buy the stake in Lagardère owned by major shareholder Amber Capital, and then launched an offer for all remaining shares. Vivendi’s move to increase its stake last year gave it control of 45.1% of the Lagardère share capital.
