BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA. Regal-Gebr Heinemann (Regal GH) has opened a walk-through duty free store at Sarajevo International Airport, claiming that it is the first of its kind in the region.
The retailer, a partnership between Gebr Heinemann, Regal Trgovina d.o.o. and Murska Sobota, opened the store on Tuesday. The airport company said the aim was to keep passengers in the shop for longer between security checks and boarding.

Sarajevo Airport Director Ivan Veličan said: “Due to the extended surface of the shop and a larger assortment of products, we can maintain high quality services and enable passengers to buy both well-known local brands and the best international products at reasonable prices.
“We firmly believe that the newly opened shop will result in satisfaction for users of our services.”

Covering over 300sq m, the store sells more than 6,000 products from international and local brands, offering perfumes and cosmetics, textile and accessories, toys, souvenirs, food and drinks and tobacco products.
A special area of the store focuses on local products only, including drinks, coffee, confectionery products and original local curios.

Minister of Traffic and Communications Enver Bijedić said: “The Government of the Federation of BiH fully supports the efforts of the Sarajevo Airport’s management aimed at keeping up with latest international trends. This is what will enable the passengers at Sarajevo Airport to feel like they are in the world’s biggest capitals.”
Regal GH provides retail services under the trade mark Travel Value & Duty Free at six international airports across Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. Gebr Heinemann has a 40% share of the company and is also its supplier.
