RUSSIA. Regstaer is planning a major expansion of its retailing offer at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow in coming months.
The biggest development is the addition of an all-categories 1,400sq m duty free store in the international departures zone. London company The Design Solution has designed the store, which will complement an already expansive and impressive duty free offer.
Nearby, the Dufry-led retailer will also open a 60sq m stand-alone Christian Dior perfumery boutique and a perfumery boutique of similar size featuring exclusive lines from major beauty houses as well as an array of niche brands seldom if ever seen in travel retail. Subject to finalisation dedicated space will also be offered to Chanel, Jo Malone, Bobbi Brown, La Mer and La Prairie.

Excitingly Regstaer expects to open its first duty free arrivals shop in early 2018. As reported, the governments of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan – members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) – signed a new Customs Code last December to pave the way for arrivals shopping in each country.
“The law will be effective from January 1, 2018, and practically we should be able to open within the first two or three months of next year,” said Regstaer Commercial Director Vadim Sagiev (we’ll bring you an interview with Eurasian Duty Free Association Executive Director Fatima Dzoblaeva, conducted yesterday, in coming days).
Sagiev said he believed arrivals shopping would eventually represent up to 20% of turnover at Vnukovo.
Business has recovered strongly this year at Vnukovo, Sagiev said with sales up +100% over the troubled 2016.
Yesterday The Moodie Davitt Report toured the Regstaer duty paid and duty free offers. The much-expanded duty paid offer, presented in a series of themed shops (Duty & Happy; Duty Beauty: Duty & Sunny etc) is one of the most impressive we have seen in an airport; while the already highly successful and well-ranged duty free line-up will be considerably by the addition of the planned new shops.
This week Regstaer hosted its annual party, including a cruise on the Moskva River, a guided tour of the Kremlin and a spectacular gala evening at the Aptypc Village & Spa Hotel last night.
