Copenhagen Airport: Double-digit F&B growth in the first nine months |
DENMARK. Healthy growth in food & beverage and retail helped lift Copenhagen Airports’ non-aeronautical performance in the first nine months of 2014.
Concession revenue from the Shopping Centre increased by +4.2% to DKK520.8 million (US$87.5 million), which was driven by +11.0% growth in food & beverage.
Revenue from speciality shops was up by +6.5%, and revenue from the duty- and tax-free stores was up by +2.3%, indicating a positive full-year effect from the refurbishment of the Gebr Heinemann-operated stores in 2013, according to the airport. Parking revenue increased by +6.8%, primarily driven by a higher average ticket value. Revenue from hotel operations was up by +5.5% year-on-year.
On the F&B performance, CEO Thomas Woldbye said: “[In June] we received an award for the world’s best airport gastronomy at the prestigious FAB Awards (organised by The Moodie Report), and we are pleased to see that passengers are responding favourably to the higher level of quality we’ve successfully introduced in recent years.”
In the nine months to 30 September, 19.7 million passengers travelled through Copenhagen Airport, which represents a +7.1% year-on-year increase. The growth in passenger numbers helped lift revenue by +6.9% to DKK 2,939.2 million (US$494 million), while profit before tax was up by +10.9% to DKK1,035.4 million (US$174 million). In Q3, Copenhagen Airport handled more than 7.5 million passengers (+6.8%), which is a record for the quarter.
