GERMANY. Swedish travel retailer R&F’s Cologne Bonn Airport store is now offering duty free prices to passengers travelling outside the EU and Schengen area on products including spirits, perfume and tobacco.
Duty free status for the store – which opened in April last year – was instated last week.
Newly-appointed R&F Retail Operations Director Mats Malmgren said: “We are very excited to be able to introduce duty free prices to our customers. We know that low prices are an incentive to shop for many customers, and we hope of course that this will lead to increased sales but also to a better customer experience.”
He added: “Primarily, we estimate that sales for product categories like spirits and tobacco will benefit from having duty free prices. While sales have been great in general for those categories, we hope that by introducing duty free prices we can boost sales further.”
