CANADA. Canadian fragrance supplier Riviera Concepts is poised to launch the signature Badgley Mischka fragrance for the premier-league US fashion duo Mark Badgley and James Mischka.
The launch follows the signing last year of a long-term licensing agreement with Candie’s Inc, which owns the Badgley Mischka brand.
The new line is launching this Spring, followed by several additional launches that will potentially include a men’s fragrance, a bridal fragrance and ancillary products including creams, lotions, soaps, bath products and scented candles.
Badgley Mischka is a favourite among Hollywood A-list celebrities such as Madonna, Catherine Zeta Jones, Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker and Ashley Judd as well as the Bush daughters who wore Badgley Mischka gowns to their inaugural balls.
Nanette Lepore Shanghai Butterfly
Also launching this Spring is Shanghai Butterfly, the newest addition to the New York fashion designer Nanette Lepore’s fine fragrance collection.
Shanghai Butterfly by Nanette Lepore is described as a crisp floral fragrance developed by master perfumer, Hugh Spencer from Ungerer and Company.
The top note comprises lemon slice, mandarin, green snow apple, and spicy carnation, which flow smoothly into the delicate floral heart. The heart is a sophisticated blend of jasmine, lily of the valley, gardenia and crimson whisper rose. The exotic base is a blend of blonde woods, green cedar, Siberian musk and sandalwood to create warmth.
Inspiration for the fragrance bottle and the packaging is drawn from Nanette Lepore’s Eastern influence in fashion.
The bottle is delicate jade green, crowned with a cap in the same shade. The glass displays rich, Eastern graphics inspired by ornamental details. The pure Parfum flacon is presented in a luxurious gold presentation. The outer packaging incorporates luxurious colours and intricate gold details.
The Shanghai Butterfly Fragrance Collection by Nanette Lepore is available from this month. Retail prices are: Parfum Spray 1fl oz US$160; edp spray 3.4fl oz US$78; edp spray 1.7fl oz US$58; edp spray 1fl oz US$38; Enchanting Body Lotion 6.8fl oz US$42; and Enchanting Body Cream 6.8fl oz US$68.
Alfred Sung Bijou and Alfred Sung Joya
Debuting in Spring 2006 is Alfred Sung Bijou (Bijou is French for Jewel) followed by Alfred Sung Joya (Joya is Spanish for Jewel) for Fall 2006, the latest additions to the Canadian fashion designer’s fragrance portfolio. The new line follows the successful Alfred Sung Jewel, which entered the market last year.
Hummer Limited Edition and Hummer Pacific Blue
Also making its debut in Spring 2006 is a limited-edition Hummer fragrance called Hummer Limited Edition with black packaging, aimed at “bad boys in black tie”, according to Riviera Concepts. The product joins the existing Hummer and H2 lines, which are also based on the distinctive General Motors vehicle.
Continuing the Hummer franchise, a seasonal Hummer Pacific Blue fragrance for Fall 2006 will be available, taking its inspiration from the Pacific blue-coloured vehicle. The vehicle’s chrome trim is translated into the fragrance bottle’s chrome cap.
