Rong Tai He Moutai has won a Double Gold at the 25th International Spirits Challenge 2020.
The Chinese distillery and baijiu specialist has not taken part in an international spirits competition for 105 years. Its first and only other appearance was during the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition where it claimed a Gold Medal, ranking alongside top whisky and Cognac brands.

Boasting over 100 years of rich culture and heritage, Rong Tai He is produced in the town of Moutai, in the Guizhou province. The company emphasises the role of the area’s micro climate, and the rich micronutrients found in the water source from the Chishui River, in the production and distillation process.
Its baijiu is made with locally-grown organic sorghum and 68 medical herbs. Distillation takes a minimum of five years, during which the clear spirit goes through nine rounds of steaming, eight rounds of fermentation in stone brick pits and seven separate extractions before ageing in round ceramic pots.

As reported, Rong Tai He partnered with Heinemann Asia Pacific in a key global travel retail launch last year.
Rong Tai He baijiu is being exported for the first time out of China. It was featured exclusively, until the end of 2019, across the global Heinemann network in key locations where Mainland Chinese travel in notable numbers – including Sydney, Jakarta, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Oslo, Russia, MSC vessels and more.
