The first Traveller Bear |
UK. Russ Berrie is introducing a travel retail exclusive Traveller Bear dressed in casual travel gear – the first in a series of teddy bears who will wear travel-inspired outfits.
Carrying a suggested retail price of £10, the first 9in Traveller Bear wears a grey fleece and grey chinos with camouflage pockets, and carries a satchel bag.
“It’s a simple idea but one which has already been met with great enthusiasm,” said Duty Free Sales Director Paul Widdop. “The Traveller Bear is a concept that can be easily customised to meet individual needs and requirements and, taking travel as a general theme, offers masses of potential for different outfits.”
In other news, the new limited-edition Terminal 5 Builder Bear – custom-designed for British Airways – is selling successfully onboard, retailing at £10, according to Widdop. Complete with hard hat, reflective waistcoat and black boots, the bear has the BA logo on his hat and boot; the back of the jacket is printed with British Airways.
The company is also introducing an updated range of traditional-look Platinum Bears in two sizes: 12in and Junior 9in. Designed as collectors’ items rather than toys, the jointed rigid bears recreate the mohair style look of the past. Seven bears are available in both sizes, all named and with sewn-in paw buttons. They retail at £24.99 and £9.99 respectively.
The flexibility of the company’s offer means that retailers can choose from core lines which can be customised, as well as travel retail exclusives, Widdop added.
