UK. Toy supplier Russ Berrie is set to introduce a host of new creations – Bijoux, Patch Pony, and new additions to the Little Lost characters and Alice’s Bear range. They will be presented at next month’s TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes (Blue Village, Stand D3).
The Bijoux collection is a fun “˜bling bling’ concept featuring colourful charms, initials and designs which can be attached to mobile phones, zips and bags. Bijoux is available in three collections: My Phone, My Zip and Charm Bijoux. Travel retail price ranges from £3.99 to £4.99. Duty Free Regional Manager Beckie Kington said: “Bijoux is a fun, impulse purchase offer that is affordable for everybody and appeals to a wide age range from around ten upwards. Bijoux comes with its own display, which takes up minimal counter space and offers fantastic incremental sales.’
Patch Pony is another new line from Russ Berrie which is expecting high travel retails sales. The 14in toy pony is available in two-tone pink/lavender or two-tone yellow/brown with a woollen mane and tail, brushed cotton hooves and a patch on the rump. A smaller version is also available, equipped with a stable bag with acetate side panel and hessian rope handles. Gift items featuring Patch Pony are also offered: money-bank, photo frame, bookmark, back pack clips and pencils. Travel retail prices range from £1.49 to £12.99.
Russ Berrie’s current best-selling inflight item, Little Lost Bear – the teddy bear with magnetic paws and eyes – has had new sizes introduced to keep up with demand. Sizes now range from 4in to 24in. A special version for the festive season has also been created, dressed in a woolly hat with tassels. The toy is available as a 7in standard sitting version and also as a 22in hanging stocking. The sitting bear has already been listed by British Airways for its Christmas sales season and will retail at £8.50, said the company. Gift items include hanging ornaments and snow.
Kington said Russ Berrie will be introducing other Little Lost characters in Cannes this year based on the popularity of Little Lost Bear, “There are going to be three new loveable Little Lost animals – Wellington Dog, Michael Mouse and Snowie Cat. Each will have magnets behind the paws and eyes to create the ‘lost’ effect.” Travel retail prices will start from £9.99
Also new on the stand will be Fairy Tilly, the latest addition to the popular Alice’s Bear range created by Ricky Austin, and a smaller version of the lifelike Yomiko animal plush.
Duty Free Regional Manager Paul Widdop said: “The Russ stand this year will be divided into distinct areas, including a focused inflight section, highlighting products that are particularly suited to – and successful on – airlines. Currently our business overall is +10% up on this time last year, and we expect to further consolidate and grow our business for 2007 at the TFWA World Exhibition this year,” he added.
A prize draw will be held on the last day of the TFWA show to win a 24in Little Lost Bear.
