Safilo Group unveils new Carrera marketing campaign; prepares to showcase 2010 collections in Cannes – 06/10/09

ITALY. Safilo Group, which is to present its Spring/Summer 2010 collections at the TFWA World Exhibition this month (Stand number: Bay Village 15), has unveiled a new marketing campaign for Carrera sunglasses.

The campaign, which highlights the first Carrera collection for women, features unusual shots taken from different viewpoints, encapsulating “the dynamic and original spirit of the collection”, Safilo said.

The car, portrayed as a symbol of road trips and adventure, is used as the backdrop. The male and female models strike “cool poses brimming with vintage appeal”, in keeping with the mood of the eyewear on show.

SPRING/SUMMER 2010 SUNGLASSES COLLECTIONS – HIGHLIGHTS

For the TFWA World Exhibition, Safilo Group will present the latest collections from the following brands:

Carrera – For Spring/Summer 2010, Carrera presents models from the Carrera Vintage collection in new colours, including the iconic Champion/T model, a 1980s-inspired teardrop model produced in Optyl. The new sunglasses celebrate 1960s flower-power with their large acetate frames, soft shapes and rounded (HIPPY 1) or square (HIPPY 2) lines. The Andy sunglasses style features an oversized acetate frame with rounded contours and original high temples for an old-school feel. The Carrera logo appears at the tenon of temples, highlighted against bold colours.

Boss Black – To celebrate 20 years in the world of eyewear, Boss Black is unveiling a special new model: an acetate aviator-shaped frame that features a slim metal tab on the front engraved with “20 YEARS OF PLEASURE” (BOSS 0279/S). The model is personalised on the temples with the Hugo Boss logo. Also new is the mask model, which has soft lines and a drop shape reminiscent of a 1980s style (BOSS 0272/S). The slim temples are engraved with the Hugo Boss logo at the tenons, offering a contrast in volume with the large front, whilst the temple tips sport the iconic photo-engraved clips.

Giorgio Armani – The new MOD. GA 756/S sunglass model is inspired by the stylish trends of the 1960s. The front section in acetate has a soft appearance in an oversized shape, emphasised by a contrast of proportions with the slim arms. The enamelled GA medallion logo stands out against the arms in shades of black, claret, grey, violet horn, gold/sand and grey/sky blue. The MOD. GA 747/S metal sunglasses features a contemporary slant and pared-down design. The front section has a sculpted rectangular shape, while the connecting link with the arms is formed by a stylised chevron, known as a Double Arrow, a distinctive decorative motif featured in recent collections. The extended Giorgio Armani logo appears on the arms in contrast with the frame in shades of semi-matt brown, matt dark grey, matt or glossy black, green and charcoal grey.

Gucci Woman – Vintage-inspired acetate models have a geometric shape that exudes a 1980s feel. MOD. GG 3100/S sports temples with a pyramid-shaped metal stud, and is available in a colour palette comprising shades of blue, purple and black with mirrored or shaded lenses. Several sophisticated models sport classic Gucci style icons. The square-shaped acetate sunglasses feature temples decorated with a combination of the marina chain and the horse-bit motifs that sparkle with Swarovski crystals (MOD. GG 3107/S).

Gucci Man – Gucci proposes new sunglasses with classic shapes and strong details. The contemporary inspired acetate sunglasses feature a linear, rectangular shape with temples personalised at the tenon with the logo engraved on a slim metal element. The colour palette offers basic shades of black and brown (MOD. GG 1620/S). Other models are produced in a multi-layered acetate, and sport a rectangular yet subtle wrap design. The pronounced profiles are decorated with the “G” monogram, silhouetted against soft shades of black, blue, white and brown (MOD. GG 1621/S).

Marc by Marc Jacobs stays true to the brand with sunglasses featuring playful details and eye-catching colours

Marc by Marc Jacobs – The Marc by Marc Jacobs collection incorporates playful details and eye-catching colours. Feminine and fancy, injection-moulded styles (mod. MMJ 126/S) feature square and gently oversized shapes with a playful new brand logo running along the length of the slim, light steel temples. This new logo can also be found on other Marc Jacobs accessories. Also new are acetate sunglasses for women featuring large butterfly shapes inspired by designs of the 1950s (mod. MMJ 134/S). A sleek, logo-embossed metal plate appears on the temple.

Yves Saint Laurent – The YSL 6288/S is an oversized injection-moulded style for women with engraved logo plaque on temples, and is available in a wide range of colours. The YSL 6290/S women’s oversized acetate sunglasses have an engraved logo plaque on temples, and come in six colours. The YSL 2290/S men’s acetate sunglasses have a metal “˜Y’ detail on temples.
