ISRAEL. Sakal Duty Free has won the tender to operate the watches and gifts shops at Ben Gurion Tel Aviv Airport terminal 3.
Sakal Duty Free will run three watches and gifts shops at the new terminal. Luxury watches (55 sq m/591.8 sq ft) is located inside the duty free area. This will sell a large array of brands including Breitling, Omega, Certina, Rolex, Tag Heuer, Tissot, Montblanc and Rado. The fashion/trendy watches (50sq m/538 sq ft) store is also located inside the duty free area. Brands sold here will include Swatch, Casio, Guess?, Gucci and DKNY. The third store is in the visitors centre (55 sq m) located before the entrance of the duty free area.
The tender is for a five-year period with Sakal Duty Free having the option of an additional two years. The value of the tender is US$75 million, the company told The Moodie Report. Sakal intends to spend US$1 million refurbishing the interiors of the shops.
Sakal Duty Free has already won the tender for electronics & electronics shops in the new terminal. It also intends to bid for contracts covering the toys, candy, CD music, DVD and multiplayers; specialised kid’s fashion; and adult fashion shops concessions.
The company expects the new terminal to open in November 2004.
