Santiago Airport opens Chile’s first Victoria’s Secret store

Santiago Airport has gained a jump on the high street by having Chile’s first Victoria’s Secret
Fulvia Zambra, Head of Retail for SCL Terminal Aéreo Santiago, welcomed the “contemporary, edgy and glamorous” presence of Victoria’s Secret

CHILE. Santiago Airport opened a Victoria’s Secret store in its domestic Departures area on 6 July – the first for the lingerie brand in Chile.

The design of the approximately 100sq m store is contemporary, edgy and glamorous, commented Fulvia Zambra, Head of Retail for airport operator SCL Terminal Aéreo Santiago.

“The facade is inspired by modern and dynamic lines, and the interior features sophisticated elements like black cherry coloured lamps and illuminated focus walls,” she said.

“There is also a gallery of iconic brand images in black and white, and a screen that shows Victoria ‘s Secret supermodels presenting the product in an atmosphere that is sexy, sophisticated and forever young.”

Victoria’s Secret is targeting a diverse clientele at the airport including women, teenage girls and male gift buyers.

Zambra said the store has enjoyed a great reception from the public because of the brand’s prestige, its product ranges (many of which are not available in the US, for example) and its status as the first store in the country.

Adding Victoria’s Secret is the latest in a series of retail additions both airside and landside at Santiago – with more to come.

As reported in The Moodie Report Latin America Report 2013 , SCL Terminal Aéreo Santiago embarked on a US$70 million terminal renovation and expansion programme in the second half of May 2013.

The airport is working with architectural firm Grupo Arquitectos to generate new spaces for retail and food & beverage, and will progressively bring in leading international brands over the coming year.

Exclusivity is a competitive advantage for the new store, which has ranges not available in other markets
