SAUDI ARABIA. Riyadh Airports and Lagardère Travel Retail have unveiled two arrivals duty-free stores at King Khalid International Airport, the first of their kind in Saudi Arabia.
The 143sq m arrivals store in Terminal 3 opened last week and was quickly followed by a second in Terminal 4 (153sq m) on Tuesday (15 October).
Hailing the inauguration of arrivals duty-free at King Khalid Airport on LinkedIn, Riyadh Airports Chief Commercial Officer Abdulaziz Al-Askaer said: “The duty-free shops have been launched in the arrivals area in a first of its kind in the Kingdom’s outlets and it represents a major achievement that reflects our continuous commitment to improving the experience of our dear passengers.
“Visitors to the Kingdom will be able to shop in the store and get a wide variety of products and gifts at competitive prices of high quality.”
Also via a post on LinkedIn, Riyadh Airports Business Development Senior Manager Dakhel Aldakhil commented: “King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh achieves a new goal by opening duty-free shops in the arrivals area. This step is the first of its kind at the level of airports in the Kingdom, by activating the decision of duty-free shops for those arriving through airports.”
Aldakhil added that the move is expected to increase the airport’s attractiveness as a major shopping and mobility hub, and will boost tourism and the local economy.
He continued: “This initiative also reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to developing air transport infrastructure and providing an integrated environment for travellers that allows them to enjoy a unique shopping experience upon arrival, contributing to enhancing the Kingdom’s image as a vibrant and thriving hub.” ✈
