NETHERLANDS. The Schiphol Group has signed a five-year car park management contract with Dutch group Parkeer Combinatie Holland.
Effective 1 November, the contract puts PCH in charge of operating all Amsterdam Airport Schiphol’s parking facilities. Schiphol will retain ownership and will remain responsible for marketing, pricing, product portfolio and asset management.
The outsourcing effort will manage all 39,049 parking spaces at Schiphol, including manning the parking garage service kiosks and day-to-day co-ordination.
PCH will also be responsible for shuttle transport, cleaning (including sweeping and garbage collection), collecting and transporting cash, security and surveillance.
The transfer of activities to PCH will see 34 Schiphol staff members joining the group.

“The outsourcing of operational parking activities is a part of Schiphol Group’s 2009 strategy to focus more intensively on its core tasks. We are confident our cooperation with PHC will allow us to keep offering our customers excellent service and a broad range of parking products,” explained Schiphol Group Chief Commercial Officer Maarten de Groof.
The parking portfolio ranges from its affordably priced Schiphol Smart Parking facility to the recently opened exclusive Schiphol Excellence Parking service.
PCH is a division of Dutch group VolkerWessels. VolkerWessels Board Chairman Gerard van de Aast added: “This contract reflects our ambition to further expand VolkerWessels service-related activities. It also represents an important step in furthering PCH’s growth strategy.”
