USA. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for seven food & beverage packages and five retail packages, covering 21 units in total. The RFP is the latest move in a major leasing drive at the airport.
The retail concessions available all run for eight years. The first is for a 1,454sq ft speciality retail or local themed outlet slated to open in the Central Terminal in October 2019. The second is for a specialty retail or open concept in 1,114sq ft of space in Concourse B, scheduled to open in January 2019. The third and fourth speciality retail outlets should cover lifestyle apparel or adventure wear. These are located in 2,060sq ft and 2,409sq ft respectively in the Central Terminal, with one to open in March 2018 and the second in October 2019.
The fifth retail package comprises five units: two speciality retail, two jewellery & accessories and one newsstand with coffee. They should open between December 2018 and February 2019, and range in space from 400sq ft to 949sq ft.
The F&B leases all run for ten years. Categories available include fast casual, gourmet coffee, wine bar, casual dining, quick service deli, gourmet market & deli, gourmet market & bar, bar with food and quick service with chicken or barbeque.
The outlets range in size from 500sq ft to 2,800sq ft and are all scheduled to open in the first half of 2019.
Leases for most concessions at the airport are expiring over several years; this is the fourth leasing group to be released. Currently, there are 86 dining and retail choices at the airport, a number expected to grow to more than 135 on completion of the redevelopment. Concessions deliver US$275 million in revenue per year.
Bids for these packages are due by 5 October.
