Select Service Partner wins contract to operate South African Airways Lounges

SOUTH AFRICA. Select Service Partner has been awarded a contract to run all South African Airways’ lounges in South African airports.

The first opened at George Airport in November, just in time to welcome visitors to the President’s Cup Golf Tournament. Five more are due to open at Durban International, Cape Town International, Port Elizabeth Airport and East London Airport. The contract is worth 100 million rand (US$13.8 million) over five years.

“We were awarded this business following the success of our operations at Johannesburg International Airport, where the Select Service Partner lounge has been awarded the Sky Trax award for best airport lounge,” said Select Service Partner South Africa managing director Eelco Camminga.

Select Service Partner will be offering an upgraded service in the lounges, with added extras including a range of freshly-prepared mini baguettes, and waiting staff will replace a self-service offer. The lounges were previously operated by South African Airways itself.

Meanwhile Select Service Partner has opened a Caffe Ritazza at George Airport. Since the new cafe replaced the existing local concept, turnover has increased by +77% month-on-month.
