AUSTRALASIA. In what promises to be a major highlight of the 2023 Australian Airports Association Retail & Commercial Forum, leaders of the Brisbane Airport commercial team will form a panel to discuss the theme, ‘COVID silver linings – how the pandemic strengthened the Brisbane Airport commercial business’. The event will be held in Brisbane from 17-19 July, with Brisbane Airport Company as host airport.
Five senior members of the commercial team – covering duty free, F&B, specialty retail, car parking, car rental, advertising, property, ecommerce and commercial marketing – will update delegates on the many commercial projects currently underway and the approach they are taking to set new benchmarks across all elements of the airport commercial landscape.

Organised by a partnership between the AAA, The Mercurius Group and The Moodie Davitt Report, the Forum takes place at the Sofitel in Brisbane and brings together all the key players in the non-aeronautical industry, including airports from Australia and New Zealand, duty free operators, specialty retail operators, food & beverage (F&B) operators, foreign exchange operators, advertising concessionaires, ground transport providers and various advisers and suppliers.
The Brisbane Airport panel will comprise:
• Martin Ryan – Executive General Manager – Commercial
• Toby Innes – Head of Retail & E-Commerce
• Paul Laws – Head of Commercial Project & Operations
• Lauren Graham – Head of Commercial Marketing
• Lauren Holt – Head of Commercial Finance
The session will be moderated by The Mercurius Group Managing Director Ivo Favotto.
Commenting on the announcement, AAA Chief Executive James Goodwin said: “As the Host Airport of this Forum and as one of the most commercially active airports in Australia, hearing from the Brisbane Airport team is a great inclusion in the event programme. The discussion will help airports and the broader airport commercial community build on their recovery.”
Ivo Favotto, Managing Director of The Mercurius Group said: “Brisbane Airport is currently a hive of activity across a whole range of commercial business – including tenders for duty free and F&B as well as developments in ground transport and property. There are longer term developments with terminal expansions that will also be of interest.”
The Moodie Davitt Report President Dermot Davitt said: “Updates on commercial activities from major airports are always a welcome and well-received feature of our events. I am sure the Brisbane Airport team will deliver a compelling, well-rounded vision of how a key airport sees its commercial future.” ✈
